Palace Skateboards – Betamaximum Palace – Hawaii Skate Trip

Wednesday, July 4th, 2018

Betamaximum Palace

The full Palace Skateboards team are back to bring you Betamaximum Palace. A year on from Palasonic (a skate edit filmed entirely on the streets of London) the boys have hit Hawaii. It’s obviously a pretty dramatic change of scene (mind you, in this heatwave apparently Hawaii is getting more rain than Manchester…). But the skating is just as good. And the animations are just as wavy.

And take note of Danny Brady skating Wallows. Which is the iconic ditch spot known for its place in The Search for Animal Chin. So look out for that as well as a few more famous spots. The video features a heavy crew of Lucas Puig, Shawn Powers, Rory Milanes, Danny Brady, Benny Fairfax, Jamal Smith, Juan Saavedra, Lucien Clarke and Chewy Cannon. Not forgetting some surprise Hawaiian locals.

adidas Skateboarding x Helas ‘The Ultimate Challenge’ releasing 10/2/2018

Tuesday, January 30th, 2018

adidas Skateboarding x Helas present ‘The Ultimate Challenge’ – a surprising, yet true to form, return from adidas and Lucas Puig’s cap company.

adidas Skateboarding and Helas Caps have teamed up again. Returning to influences of vintage tennis iconography and adding the unexpected twist of Japanese anime for playful take on the second limited edition collection from the three stripes and Lucas Puig’s headwear brand.

Helas was founded in 2011 by Lucas Puig, Clement Brunel and Stephen Khou and their headwear is often found resting on the lids of some of the most technically gifted tracksuit enthusiasts within skateboarding’s professional ranks. The brand has since expanded its production of quality caps and garnered a reputation for their apparel, which draws heavily on retro and modern sportswear, with an aesthetic complimentary of adidas history.

The collection incorporates pastel-hues into an assortment of tennis garments, including a polos, pants and a unique colour way of the Lucas Premiere ADV, for a modern take on classic court clothing. The eggshell colourway of Lucas’ signature shoe is constructed from a premium leather upper and sits atop a responsive and supportive outsole and finished with pastel touches alongside an insole featuring artwork inspired by early 90s manga.

Alongside the shoe, adidas Skateboarding and Helas have produced a pastel-hued selection of apparel reflecting the laid back French style which Lucas encapsulates and adidas’ sportswear heritage. Consisting of a jacket, pants, Climate advanced polo, four-panel cap and duffel bag – the adidas Skateboarding x Hélas collection takes cues from the clothing of Swedish Grand Slam Superstar, Stefan Edberg.

Edberg himself features in ‘The Ultimate Challenge’ – a light hearted anime short featuring Lucas and the Helas Caps crew embarking on a quest to save the tennis legend from an uncompromising super villain. Lookout for the capsule arriving February 10th in-store and online at:

Have a browse of the entire adidas Skateboarding X Helas collection below then get your short-shorts on, your t-shirt in hand and lay down your best flip-in -flip-out combo at the local ledge spot just like Lucas would!

Deck yourself out in the matching adidas Skateboarding x Helas Track Jacket and Track Pants. Ideal for being comfortable while causing, taking it to the tennis court or sweating it out at the gym – £69.95 and £69.95, respectively.

The graphical influence from Stefan Edberg’s adidas apparel pops the loudest on this white polo longsleeve which retails at £54.95.

The adidas Skateboarding X Helas collaborative tee comes on one of adidas’ Climalite t-shirts – a lightweight option ideal for the sunny days ahead – £27.95.

Finally the centrepiece of the collection, the Lucas Premiere in Off White/Dark Blue/Clear Aqua. Slim, supportive, durable and all yours for £69.95.

France’s Finest Skateboarders

Tuesday, March 15th, 2016

Today I want to to do an article on some French skaters who inspired me since the early days. I used to have some sketchy copies of these VHS videos, all of them in black and white, recorded by older guys from the skatepark. Some of these parts are quite old, others are more about the ” NEW” scene. Check it out, here are some of my all time classics.
