CENTRAL SEND OFF!

Friday, July 25th, 2014

You must all know by now that Central Skatepark is no longer here for all you moshers to shred it up….. R.I.P! It has been an mint 8 years and the support you guys have shown has been truly amazing! We can’t thank you enough for visiting us and showing your support! Some incredible stunts have gone down over the years but we had a last session not so long ago for the final hammers to be put down.. take a look at the clip below to see some final stunts from one of the best skateparks I’ve been too and had the chance or working with!!! CENTRAL SKATEPARKS CLOSING JAM TOMORROW

Friday, July 4th, 2014

If you haven’t already heard this very sad news but after 8 amazing years Central Skatepark is coming to an end! We will be holding a jam tomorrow on the 5th of July so be sure to make it down to give us a well deserved send off! There is no excuses not to come down and show your love as it will be FREE entry into the park and there will be some upset faces but mans will still be on a hype. There’s loads of prizes and give aways, a special guest MC for the day and DJ Rob DOGGER Smith on the decks. There will also be some special celebrity appearances from soap star extra Ollie Tyreman and 80’s throw back Alex Romain.

Over the years Central has changed its course a number of times trying to mix it up. I found the park to be suited to both skateboarding and BMX to its best whereas not many parks take that into consideration these days! This has lead to some great BMX events over the years and some even better skate events! Holding comps like The Vans Shop Riots, Cancer Research Jams to the best Christmas bashes in Manchester that has always ended with a mash up after party at Unity Radio….

The Black Sheep Store and Central would also like to thank everyone for help making the skatepark what it is today! Still can’t believe how long we have lasted and if it wasn’t for the support from our locals and visitors then it wouldn’t have happened! Bring your beers boards, bikes, blades and scooters…. anything goes and let’s give Central the send it off it deserves!

Apollo Brown & Ugly Heroes

Thursday, March 6th, 2014

Apollo Brown is a Detroit hip hop producer, winner of Detroit Red Bull Big Tune Championships. Together Apollo Brown, Verbal Kent and Red Pill are Ugly Heroes.

An Ugly Hero is considered a myth. Growing up, the heroes we saw in cartoons and movies were perfectly chiseled, intelligent, and had senses none of us possess. An Ugly Hero is the everyday blue collar individual that makes the world go ‘round. These are the heroes that work hard all day, everyday to help ensure that the lives around them are taken care of, and do it all without recognition. They wear themselves into the ground and sacrifice vanity for family.

Catch them at Band On The Wall for their Manchester debut.

Support comes from Unionblak and DJ Jonny Dub (Hoya:Hoya / WHP)

State “Black Sheep List” on the door to get a reduced of just £6.00 (normally £12.00 on the night,) limited tickets so first come first served.

Pharoahe Monch LIVE!

Tuesday, February 11th, 2014

People of Manchester… this Thursday (13th Feburuary), Band On The Wall proudly present the Hip-Hop legend that is Pharoahe Monch Live in Manchester! Possibly one of the most underrated underground hip-hop artists of our time?

He first hit international fame with the smash hit ‘Simon Says’ back in 1999  however, because of the illegal use of the “Godzilla Theme Song” as a sample in ‘Simon Says’, the album has ceased to be produced but the smash hit continues to be played around the world over 15 years later! There are more side’s to Pharoahe Monch than his hit from 1999, his last album W.A.R (We Are Renegades) carries some really heavy lyrics over some solid beats reflecting his place at ‘war’ with the music industry and his newest album P.T.S.D (Post Traumatic Stress Disorder), tackles the issue of gun violence in America and expresses his frustration on the matter. With his powerful lyrical content and rhythmic flows, Pharoahe Monch has always been considered one of the top MC’s in the game.

Support on the night comes from Manchester’s very own Ape Cult and the In The Loop crew.

The good folks over at Adidas Skateboarding have presented us with a new addition to the skateboarding range, the Silas SLR. The latest Silas signature shoe is a new hybrid model between a skate shoe and running shoe, and the third Silas model from Adidas. The new silhouette combines a few attributes from the Adidas catalogue such as the upper overlays of the Boston, with inspirations from Silas’s favourite model, the Adistar Racer. Rockin’ the three stripes on a smooth suede upper and delicate golden branding to produce that quality we all love from Adidas.

The Adidas Silas SLR is available in Black/White & Uniform Blue/Fade Gold to order now in sizes UK6 – UK12 on our website, Manchester’s no.1 skate store.
