Vans Syndicate X Andy Kessler Sk8-Hi Reissue NYC “S”

Tuesday, October 13th, 2015

Celebrating a decade of Vans Syndicate would not be complete without a tribute to a proper skateboard icon. This October Vans Syndicate have released the Sk8-Hi Reissue NYC “S” inspired by the east coast legend, Andy Kessler. Thought as one of the original pioneers of New York skateboarding in the 1970’s and 1980’s, Kessler was an integral part of graffiti and skate crew The Soul Artists of New York, considered by some as the New York version of the Z-Boyz crew from Dogtown in Santa Monica, California. Kessler went on to spearhead a number of skateboard initiatives within the city, including working with the Parks Department to build the first skatepark in Manhattan at 108th Street in Riverside park, earning him the nickname “Grandmaster of 108” . He went on to design and build parks throughout the five boroughs and beyond. Unfortunately Kessler past away in August 2009 after an allergic reaction to a bee sting but will always be remembered for his dedicated community work building public skateparks, inspiring locals and skateboarders from all walks of life.

Vans Syndicate presents the Andy Kessler Sk8-Hi Reissue NYC “S” in the original premium leather and nubuck silhouette , with the bright blue shoelaces that Kessler used to personalize all of his Sk8-Hi’s with.

The Upper construction features outlast temperature management linings and perforated nubuck panels for maximum protection and ventilation. For that extra little bit of a personal touch, the custom heel scab is reference to old NYC subway tokens from Andy’s childhood.

The Sk8-Hi NYC “S” also features Vans Ultracrush HD footbeds, Vans original waffle gum sole and the signature Syndicate 10th anniversary artwork in gold on the footbeds.

Like with the majority of the anniversary Syndicates stock is limited, so get yours while you can!

5 Boro NYC

Wednesday, September 10th, 2014

5 Boro is mint hands down! Founded on the streets on NYC in 1996 this company has such an interesting history and an amazing future ahead! The graphics they have brought out have been on point still to this very day! The new VHS Series they have just released are my favorite graphics I’ve seen for a long time! Simple idea executed with pure class! This series from 5 Boro is paying homage to where they began, back in 1996 and the booming era for skate videos, made possible thanks to the Video Home System aka the VHS. The series is dedicated to all those blank tapes used to hold sponsor me footage, pirated skate videos or the latest episode of Corrie for your mum!

You know the company has succeeded with the graphics when you want to buy the whole series to put on your wall at home! Come and see the collection in our city center store and see what you think!
