Free Dome Skateboards – Geoff Rowley

So this one’s out the bag now and we’re hyped to see Free Dome Skateboards by the Liverpool legend Geoff Rowley. Set to release Worldwide by a hand selected 26 skate shops all with very limited stock. The first produced hand screened (see video below!) decks are Geoff’s first pro board since his long term separation from his previous sponsor. You know with anything Geoff Rowley turns his hand to it’s done with the upmost care and attention to detail. With a few years now of riding blank decks with just his current sponsors stickers Vans, Independent Trucks and Spitfire Wheels it’s great to see what the man himself has been working up to. If you follow Geoff Rowley on Instagram you’ll be aware of his fondness for all things skateboard related. He’s known for sourcing out his all time favorites Independent Stage 7’s trucks from anywhere and everywhere. With this said you know Geoff was going to come correct when it came to producing his own skateboards.

Free Dome Skateboards got it’s first mention just a couple of weeks back in the internet world. With a more than welcoming positive reaction and such limited supply we’re expecting these to disappear rather quickly. The first available Pro board from Geoff is available in three wood stain colors and they have all been screen printed in California, USA. The shape is your classic Popsicle with a medium concave. All boards also produced by the legendary Schmitt Stix Factory headed up by 80’s innovator deck maker connoisseur Paul Schmitt.

We seriously look forward to what comes next from Free Dome Skateboards. As of right now it’s all a little mysterious but with the known rumors of a new Vans video part from Geoff Rowley you know he’s always got something brewing. Let the slap forum talks commence as to who’ll be on the team, will the name be changed and just general lurkers chatting madness.

Geoff Rowley Pro Model, 8.375″ Width x 31.75″ Length x 14″ Wheelbase, Custom shape and hand screen printed in California, U.S.A.

Nike Sb – Daan Van Der Linden

Nike Sb – Daan Van Der Linden

Well the skateboard rumor mill has been bubbling away on this one for a while now. And as the dust settles and when all’s said and done Daan Van Der Linden chooses the Swoosh to leave his long time home of Vans for Nike Sb.

You can only imagine what the Slap forums (other skateboard forums are available) bandwidth is like on this one as every man and his dog will have an opinion. Personally for me (and that stands for sod all) it boils down to shoes to put on his feet along with paying some bills plus having a blast along the way. Remember all footwear brands whether sports giants, part of huge corporations or legitimately skater owned they are all actual “business’s” who have riders to endorse products to try sell more products, end of.

The bit that works great for us skateboarders is that we reap the benefits from these brands pushing riders in our face in terms of coverage. Imagine if Daan Van Der Linden only ever stayed skating down his local car-park and he was never given the opportunity to skate the best spots in the World for his and our entertainment…

Well, form your own opinion but I like how skaters at the top of their game can get payed ‘real’ money nowadays. It’s been said before but look at footballers, basketball players etc… them guys seriously will never work a real job after their career and why shouldn’t it be so for skateboarders who could have life ending (never mind career) injuries at any given moment. Hats off to any skaters getting paid and being given the opportunity to progress what we all love doing. Without this progression of skateboarding we’ll never get to see where this crazy ride will take us next.

Anyway, enough of the ramblings of an old man! Get your view on below as Daan Van Der Linden is seriously one of the best out there right now. Be sure to expect more Daan / Nike Sb style footage forthcoming in the very near future.

Rodney Mullen – Liminal Part

Tuesday, July 12th, 2016

After 2004’s Almost Round Three, Rodney Mullen has largely stayed out of the limelight. Now though, the 49 year old street pioneer is back with a brand new video part after twelve years, the new footage called Liminal and released by Vogue is far from an ordinary skate section. It came about when Dhani Harrison ( son of Beatles guitarist George Harrison) approached him asking about documenting his skating with Steven Sebring, a fashion photographer who has had work in magazines like Vanity Fair, Vogue and GQ. Shot in his revolutionary 360-degree studio (a 24 foot dome surrounded by 100 cameras) Mullen returns and he’s well on form as he compiles a collection of NBD’s all captured in stunning 360-degree high definition. Rodney hasn’t lost anything at all in fact he’s even better. Click play below now and you will see what we mean.

Pixels: Shiner’s 40th Birthday Party

Friday, July 1st, 2016

Shiner Distribution have been supplying the UK with some much needed brands such as Independent, Santa Cruz, Creature, Spitfire, Venture, Bones, Ricta and many more for a mighty 40 years now. If it wasn’t for the good people at Shiner you wouldn’t find the skateboard necessaries at skate shops so to celebrate they obviously held a party. It was a glorious day in Bristol, where the huge Distribution company is based and they supplied skaters from all over, who skated for various brands they supply with a banging mini ramp and some recently poured concrete for all the street dudes. To catch all the action watch the edit above thanks to Pixels. You will also see a few members of our family enjoying themselves at the bash of the year, the Shiner Forty Years Party. Happy Birthday guys!!

Fresh drop of Polar Skate Co

polar skate co

Polar Skate Co smashed it this week with the release of their new video ‘I like it here inside my mind, don’t wake me this time’ that was composed by one of skateboarding’s greatest, Pontus Alv. Pontus has entertained us yet again with another mind boggling video. Not as many unusual clips featured this time round compared to ‘Strongest of the Strange’ which was also a huge hit a while ago but the skating as always, is some next level shit. The video features people such as Aaron Herrington, Kevin Rodridgues, Hjalte Halberg, Pontus Alv and Am’s Oskar Rozenberg Hallberg, Michał Juraś, David Stenstrom, Dane Brady, Paul Grund and Jacob Ovgren. We have the DVD on sale over on our website but it has literally flown of the shelves leaving us with one copy left. Although we will be getting a restock though so don’t panic just yet.

As the DVD arrived it will also be very pleasing to the ears of all skaters that we have received a fresh load of their clothing, accessories and boards as well. Let me tell you something too, it’s all mighty fine. You’ve got a great selection to choose from boards wise, ranging in different sizes to suit all. With the clothing you’ve got some of your popular standard logo t-shirts and hoodies. There is plenty more bits to have a look through, for now here’s a snippet of the whole collection. Great work Polar Skate Co.

Jim Greco – “The Way Out” Film

Tuesday, February 9th, 2016

Jim Greco is a legendary skater, there’s no denying that. In his earlier days, rolling around with the “Piss Drunk” crew, who had amazing skills on skateboards, that lawless punk rock attitude but who’s fates have almost all been damaged in one way or another. Along with Ali Boulala, Andrew Reynolds, Dustin Dollin, Erik Ellington (with whom he started Deathwish with) and a host of others, they set the scene and direction for skateboarding at that time. Baker 2G was one of my very first skate videos I saw and was completely blown away by it, especially Greco’s section and I’ve been a massive fan of his ever since. Thankfully he pulled himself through the crazy periods of his life and has now treated us to a new video called “The Way Out”. Shot by Greco himself, it follows two years of his life, the 11th and 12th years of being clean and sober. The 30 minute feature that also includes footage of Jeremy Klein, is produced by Hammers USA and is shot in 35mm colour and is the most personal and introspective skate film to date. Greco has always raised the bar in every part he’s put out there and the skating in “The Way Out” is no different, in no way at all has he slowed down or shown signs like he is ready to stop and this film proves that. Lets hope this is not the last part we see of “Grecs”, I don’t think it will be! Greco became sober and devoted his life to skateboarding, well done Jim and thanks for the inspiring skateboarding that you continue to give us!

Keep up with all things in the world of Jim Greco by following him on Instargram !

Matt Ramiller’s NWS Part

Wednesday, January 20th, 2016

You know when you watch a part and your instantly blown away? Well this is deffo one of these sections! Matt Ramiller’s NWS part is absolutely mental! It is one of the best, of what I like to call DIY skatebording parts I have ever witnessed! He either has no local spots or just loves creating all this madness, either way its proper rad! Rain, sand or snow doesn’t stop this guy! There’s one thing building sketchy backyard ramps but Matt is next level! Crazy roof drops, grind manual combo’s , bonkers rail stunts and a sick as hell ender! Don’t be fooled though, this guy smashes it on the street and in parks, hunt some of his footage down on youtube! For now though bear witness and remember the name Matt Ramiller !
