Thrasher is a monthly skate zine founded in the early 80s. Thrasher is a magazine of legendary status, and during the 80s it helped push skateboarding from what many dismissed to be a fad, to a dominant subculture.

The Thrasher Skater of the Year competition has been running since 1990, and is considered one of the best achievements in skateboarding. Previous winners include Arto Saari, John Cardiel, Chris Cole and Daewon Song. The title is decided by Thrasher’s editor.

Thrasher also hold the “King of the Road” competition, where four professional skate teams battle it out on a road trip across the US, completing tasks assigned to them and filming video parts. Many different skate teams have taken part in the competition, including Zero, Baker and Toy Machine.

One year the competition was even held in China, where four of the biggest Chinese board companies competed against each other.

Thrasher also manufacture tees, hoodies and snapbacks bearing their logo which have become extremely popular both within and outside of the skate scene. We always have the latest issue in stock, as well as a few back issues from recent months.

Thrasher currently have a circulation of 250,000, which is a very high figure for any print magazine, let alone a skateboarding mag. Today the magazine features in depth interviews, coverage of skate events and tours, music articles and some of the best skate photography that you will ever see. They also include lots of comedic articles and features, like “Poser of the month”.

Thrashers’ editorial style is very light hearted and reflects its core skate ethos of having a good laugh and not taking it all too seriously. Which is probably one of the main reasons why they have managed to last for almost 35 years throughout the turbulence and uncertainty of the skate industry.
